About The Course
Our Premium PADI Open Water course takes place over 4 days, with days 1 & 2 having a mini theory assessment, and your 'confined water' sessions where we teach you your essential diving skills in a sheltered environment. On days 3 and 4, we'll explore the ocean with 2 'open water' dives on each day!
If you have a buddy that's booked on as well then awesome! If not you'll be buddied up with another course mate for the duration of the course.
We hope you'll choose us to get your PADI Open Water here on Waiheke Island, Auckland! If you have any questions or specific requirements just let us know and we'll happily answer them all for you.
Before You Start
Around 2 weeks before the course start date, you'll receive an email from PADI with a link to your e-learning for the course, so please keep an eye out for this. This is an awesome, interactive learning platform that is then perfectly complimented by in-person teaching by your Instructor. This must be completed entirely before the 'dive days' are due to start.
Days 1 & 2
On your first course date, you'll meet us at our store where you'll be introduced to your Instructor and course-mates. Together over a tea or coffee, you'll complete some paperwork before being allocated your gear for the course.
Once you're all ready, you'll head to the chosen locations to begin your initial training! These first days really focus on the 'skills' of diving, so we teach you everything from putting your gear together, through to communicating with your buddy underwater plus so much more!
At the end of each day, you'll return to the store to clean and sort the equipment, before reviewing the day with your Instructor and making sure all of your questions have been answered.
After your second day in the water, your Instructor will have you complete a mini-quiz to make sure that the e-learning has sunk in, and to make sure we identify any areas that you might benefit from a little extra teaching time.
Days 3 & 4
On days 3 & 4, we follow a very similar pattern to the start of your course, except we put your newly learnt skills to good use on 2 'Open Water' shore dives each day.
This allows you to put your training to good use, demonstrating those skills on dives that are just like 'real' ones you'll be completing once you're a certified diver! There are still some skill requirements to complete, but don't worry - it's nothing that you haven't completed before! This is where the it feels like the 'real' diving begins!
After our dives we'll head back to the store and, just like before, organise our equipment and have a debrief while completing our logbooks too!
Once you've completed these dives and all your skills to a level that your Instructor is happy with then we'll process your certification and congratulations, you're a PADI Open Water Diver! An incredible world awaits you and your new skills!
We believe that you deserve to learn in the best way possible.
That's why we only teach in small groups - the maximum you'll find on a course with us is 4 students to 1 instructor (half of what is a very common ratio of 8:1). This means that you get more Instructor time for personalised learning and more time in and under the water to practice your skills and explore the underwater world. We believe in making "Divers", not just people who can dive!
We believe that your learning experience should be fun and accessible.
That's why you'll find our courses have the FULL PADI e-learning as standard. You get to cover the theory at your own pace before the course starts, wherever you happen to be! We're available for help and support via email, messenger or phone while you're learning. But, don't worry - we know that Instructor time is essential to your learning which is exactly why we have in-person theory revision sessions during the diving days too, so you can ask us anything you like in person! Best of both worlds!
You'll also find absolutely zero hidden costs.
We supply every piece of the SCUBA & snorkelling equipment for you to use during the course, including masks, snorkels fins and boots, so no surprise rental fees (some Auckland Dive Shops charge up to $100 in additional rental fees - we don't!).
All you need to bring along is your swimwear for under your wetsuit, completed homework, lunch and your sense of adventure!
Top quality dive gear for you to use during your course for FREE.
Speaking of equipment we're proud to work with some of the top brands in diving, such as Scubapro and Mares, who keep us well stocked with their top quality gear that you get to dive with! Using top brand gear makes for a more comfortable experience in the water, so less time worrying about comfort and more time concentrating on your learning and dive adventure!
So with us you get small groups, top quality Instruction, full e-learning, no hidden costs and top brand name equipment to use.
