Join us for a PADI Open Water Course and become a certified PADI diver on the stunning island of Waiheke, Auckland, New Zealand! If your preferred dates are not listed then please get in touch and we'll do our best to accomodate you!
Here at Waiheke Dive & Snorkel, we know that learning to dive is one of the most exciting things you can do, because we've all been there ourselves! Becoming a PADI Open Water diver is not just a fun course over a few days, it's you earning a lifelong skill that can take you on epic adventures all around the world!
What makes our PADI Open Water Course unique?
Our philosophy is 'over and above' at all levels so, if you book your PADI Open Water course with us, you'll find;
- Small groups - no more than 4 students to 1 Instructor so you get more Instructor time for the best learning environment and more time exploring underwater during your dives!
- Zero hidden costs - we supply every piece of equipment you need to use, so no surprise hire costs when you start your course.
- Full PADI e-learning - You complete your theory from home, at a pace that suits you. But don't worry, we know how important asking questions are so your course includes additional theory revision sessions with your Instructor.
- Top quality gear - Scubapro dive equipment for you to use throughout your course for your comfort and safety!
Our PADI Open Water course takes place over 4 days, with days 1 & 2 having a mini theory assessment, and your 'confined water' sessions where we teach you your essential diving skills in a sheltered environment. On days 3 and 4, we'll explore with 2 'open water' dives on each day!
Once you've completed these dives and all your skills to a level that your Instructor is happy with then congratulations, you're a PADI Open Water Diver! An incredible world awaits you and your new skills!
You have some digital learning to complete before the course starts through the brand new PADI E-learning Open Water Diver program. This is an awesome, interactive learning platform that is then perfectly complimented by in-person teaching by your Instructor.
If you have a buddy that's booked on too then awesome! If not you'll be buddied up with another course mate for the duration of the course.
We hope you'll choose us to get your PADI Open Water here on Waiheke Island, Auckland! If you have any questions or specific requirements just let us know and we'll happily answer them all for you.
Why explore with us?
We believe that you deserve to learn in the best way possible. That's why we only teach in small groups - the maximum you'll find is 4 students to 1 instructor (half of what is a common ratio of 8:1). This means that you get more Instructor time and more time in the water to practice your skills exploring the underwater world with less time waiting around for others to do their thing.
We also believe that your learning experience should be as fun and accessible as possible. That's why you'll find our courses have the FULL PADI e-learning as standard, meaning you get to cover the theory at your own pace before the course starts. But, don't worry - we know that Instructor time is essential to your learning which is exactly why we build in-person theory revision sessions too, so you can ask us anything you like in person! Best of both worlds!
You'll also find absolutely zero hidden costs - We supply all of the SCUBA & snorkelling equipment for you to use during the course so no surprise rental fees. All you need to bring along is your swimwear for under your wetsuit, your completed homework and your sense of adventure!
Also, why not check our our packages where you can get some quality gear at special package prices.
Speaking of equipment we're proud to work with Scubapro, one of the worlds top gear brands, who keep us fully stocked with their gear!
So with us you get small groups, quality Instruction, full e-learning, no hidden costs and top brand name equipment to use.
Simply book online, and soon after you'll get a confirmation email from the team along with some specific info, such as meeting times and locations.
You'll need to let us know some of your sizes so that we can allocate gear and complete the appropriate medical and liability release forms. Click here to download the PADI Medical form.
You do need to be able to swim for the PADI Open Water Course as a 200m swim and a 10 minute float / tread water is a requirement of the course. Also, while we can supply materials in a variety of languages, the course is taught in English so a good level of spoken English is also required.
Please note that for the group Open Water courses our minimum age is 14 and we need in person, signed paperwork from a parent or guardian if under 18. We can arrange, on request, courses for younger divers, but as these are at a reduced ratio please be aware there may be an additional cost.
