PADI Specialty courses are run on demand, so please get in touch if you're interested in taking this specialty!
Whether purpose-sunk as an artificial reef for scuba divers, or lost as the result of an accident, wrecks are fascinating windows to the past. Ships, airplanes and even cars are fascinating to explore and usually teem with aquatic life. Each wreck dive offers a chance for discovery, potentially unlocking a mystery or spying something others have missed. The PADI Wreck Diver Specialty course is popular because it offers rewarding adventures while observing responsible wreck diving practices.
- Small groups - no more than 4 students to 1 Instructor so you get more Instructor time for the best learning environment and more time exploring during your dives!
- Full PADI e-learning - You complete your theory from home, at a pace that suits you. But don't worry, we know how important asking questions are so your course includes additional theory revision sessions with your Instructor.
- Top quality gear - Brand new Scubapro dive equipment for you to use throughout your course for your comfort and safety if you choose to hire, or you're welcome to use your own!
The PADI Wreck Diver course is one of the most popular around. Under the tuition of your Instructor you'll learn how to plot, assess and plan a wreck penetration, followed by engaging in a penetration dive during the course.
We complete 4 dives on wrecks as part of this course (charter fees not included), plus an additional 2 dives 'over and above' the course requirements before we head to the wrecks to fine tune your line laying, buoyancy and finning abilities. So that's 6 dives over 3 days in total for this course!
There are many different types of wrecks, some of which are protected by laws that guard their historical and cultural significance. Your training starts by reviewing guidelines for researching and respecting wrecks. During four dives you’ll learn:
- Safety considerations for navigating and exploring wrecks.
- Surveying and mapping a wreck.
- Using penetration lines and reels to guide exploration.
- Techniques to avoid kicking up silt or disturbing the wreck and its inhabitants.
After our dives, we'll spend some time exploring and discussing the dives themselves, with a thorough debrief and discussion.
If you have a buddy that's booked on too then awesome! If not you'll be buddied up with another course mate for the duration of the course.
We hope you'll choose us to get your PADI Wreck Diver Certification! If you have any questions or specific requirements just let us know and we'll happily answer them all for you.
